Pre-Ballet / Tap for ages 3 - 5
This is a combination class teaching basic ballet steps and terminology, and basic tap skills. Rhythm and coordination are taught, practiced, and developed through creative movement and music, in a supportive and supervised environment.

​Toddler Tumbling for ages 3 - 5
This class is an introduction to tumbling (somersaults, rolls, jumps etc.).
As students practice, they increase balance, coordination and grace.

​Ballet I for ages 6 - 10
This is a class specially created for students who are new or returning to ballet.
In this technique class, students will learn ballet fundamentals and terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.

​Ballet I (Advanced) for ages 8 - 10​
Intermediate. Ballet technique classes for students 7+. Students have progressed beyond the first levels of traditional ballet training. Students learn concentration and endurance and become proficient in fundamental dance movement and ballet technique. This class level placement is determined by the facility.

Ballet II for ages 9 - 11
Ages 9 and up. Intermediate with 5-6 years prior training. Emphasis on pointe preparation. Two classes/week required.

​Ballet III for ages 12 & up
Ages 12- up. Intermediate - Advanced with emphasis on pointe technique. Three classes/week required. Students in these intermedial levels may take Pointe with the permission of the instructor. They may also audition for membership in the School of Dance Arts performance company.

​Jazz for ages 8 - 10​
This dynamic class teaches the fundamentals of jazz technique and basic elements in a safe environment supervised by experienced teachers.

​Jazz for ages 9 - 11​
This upbeat class combines basic jazz technique and choreography. In this fast-paced and fun class students will use jazz to develop their coordination rhythm, flexibility and self-expression. This class will get a great cardio workout in this high energy dance class.
​
​Jazz for ages 12 & up
This is a techinically demanding class that focuses on musicality, jazz vocabulary, artistry, and performance skills. This class level placement is determined by the facility.

​Modern I for ages 8 -10
This is a class specially created for students who are new to Modern dance.
In this technique class, students will learn the fundamentals of Modern dance
and Modern terminology while developing strength, confidence, balance, and flexibility.

Modern II & III for ages 11 and up
This class will focus on freedom of expression, interpretation of music, principles of fall and recovery, control, breathing and balance. Students will be taught modern techniques while being encouraged to express their emotions and develop artistry through movement.

Tap I
These classes teach rhythm, coordination, basic tap terminology and choreography.

Tap II
This class is designed to refine tap skills while moving beyond the fundamentals of tap. Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns and combinations. Students will also learn different styles of tap such as Stomp, Showboat, Hoofing, and Rhythmic.

Tap III
This technique class will focus on faster and more intricate footwork. The dancer at this level will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations
Hip-Hop for ages 6 to 9
This class teaches the fundamentals of hip-hop dancing. Students will learn rhythm and coordination through age appropriate hip hop choreography with no suggestive music / movements. This class will introduce some of the many styles of hip-hop dancing especially rhythmic patterns and dance improvisation skills will be taught.

Hip-Hop for ages 10 +
This upbeat class is fast-paced and fun as students develop their coordination, rhythm, flexibility and self-expression. Teenagers will love building stamina and getting a great cardio workout in this high energy dance class.

Drill Team Dance for ages 6 & up
Students in this innovative class will wear sneakers and use their entire body to create beats and movements through tapping, stomping, stepping, and drumming using their body, hands, and feet. Students taking this high energy class will develop coordination and rhythm. As students progress, more advanced dance rhythmic patterns and musical improvisation skills will be taught.

Musical Theatre for ages 8 and up
These upbeat classes teach Broadway style choreography, show-stopping stage presence and acting with a focus on learning song-and-dance numbers from a variety of musical productions past and present. Some tap may be taught, and how to express emotion and portray a character through movement and facial expressions.

The School of Dance Arts is one of the most spectacular and affordable dance schools in the Philadelphia area. You can design a personalized dance program for your child with a certified dance instructor or just take advantage of the wide variety of traditional or alternative dance classes offered at this state of the art facility.​

Orientation is required for first time students.​
​​
These classes consist of a 40 week session every year.​
​​
Registration is open until January of 2013.​
